Slieve League Cliffs to Donegal Town

I recently had the opportunity to explore South Donegal from the Slieve League Cliffs to Donegal town. Reflecting back, if you love beaches, then you will love this area and could very easily while away a week here! Arriving up to the Slieve League Cliff’s early in the morning, the mountain ewes and lambs were particularly pleased to see me, running towards me mistaking me for their farmer coming to feed them breakfast! Horn Head, Dunfanaghy

The north-west area of Donegal has a wealth of scenery and if you find yourself in this beautiful part of the country, be sure to head for Horn Head just outside of Dunfanaghy, be it for a few days, a day trip or even a quick spin around while doing the Wild Atlantic Way. Make your way to Dunfanaghy and at the top of the town (the Falcarragh end), Horn Head drive will be signposted. (more…)

Mount Errigal & Glenveagh National Park

Mount Errigal, Donegal’s highest peak (751metres) had been on my to-do list for a while so I made the 5-hour journey up and as with all trips to the North-West, it did not disappoint. The view as I rounded the road into Gweedore and there Errigal stood before me, appearing perfectly symmetrical and really jaw-droppingly awesome was a real wow moment!! King for a Day in Tory!

  Looking out across to Tory from Errigal’s summit, and having a life long fascination with islands and all things coastal, I made it my business to get out there as soon as I could. Arranmore Adventures

A trip out to Arranmore is a lovely adventure; you get the sense of getting away from it all in relative comfort and ease. Located 5km off the coast looking back over towards The Rosses in Donegal, with Donegal airport, Gweedore and Dunglow just a short drive away from the ferry at Burtonport.
